On 6 March 2018, the first edition of "ETF-KnowHow", formerly known as
"ETF Basiswissen", took place. Whether as an entry point for ETF newcomers or as an increase
of knowledge for more experienced investors: the free event series (only in German) provides investors with the
necessary tools to invest successfully in ETFs.
The focus was on topics as: passive investments for a better pension plan, what do I have to consider when trading
ETFs as well as thematic investments with ETFs. The participants learned, in easy and simple explanations, about
the advantages and the use of exchange-traded investment funds. More than 60 private investors participated the
event in the SIX ConventionPoint. They were welcomed by
Danielle Reischuk, Senior ETFs & ETPs Sales Manager, SIX Swiss Exchange. She provided practical advices for
efficient product searches on the stock exchange.
Experts from the areas of retirement planning, asset management and product development presented the necessary
tools to successfully invest in exchange-traded investment funds. Daniel Peter, founder
VIAC, Frank Mohr, Head of ETF Sales-Trading,
Commerzbank, and Simon Stalder, Head of ETF and
Index Investments EAM & Family Offices Switzerland,
iShares, explained what needs to be considered
when making an investment.
"ETF/ETP Roundtable": focus on turbulent markets
The "ETF/ETP Roundtable" which addresses professional investors, took place after the event
for private investors. 50 participants from the financial and insurance industry, as well as representatives of
pension funds and institutional investors, attended the panel discussion: "how to invest in ETFs in times
of turbulent markets". Amanda Kayne, News Anchor,
CNN Money Switzerland, moderated the panel discussion with her
expert knowledge. Guillermo Felices, Head of Research and Strategy for Multi-Asset, Quantitative and Solutions,
BNP Paribas Asset Management, Nicolas Fragneau, Head
of ETF Product Specialists, Amundi, and Paul Jackson, Head of
Research Invesco, PowerShares, talked about current
market results and their expectations for the future with Amanda Kayne.
The flourishing global economy, central banks which increase interest rates, inflation, harsh corrections in January
and February and the fear of a trade war between the US and China were just some of the topics. The participants
tried to rank the markets. Are the markets ready for a recovery or are we still in a bubble? Do we have to get used
to a rough climate at the stock market? The members of the podium also discussed opportunities and risks which are
currently facing the markets.
